Calling all JAVA programmers (J2ME)

BlackBerry (RIM) is providing a great resource for JAVA (J2ME) programers. If you know how to program in JAVA and can reduce your skills to the limitations of J2ME, the door is wide open...

RIM has recently made available the BlackBerry app store, which allows developers the ability to release (for $$$) their BlackBerry friendly (J2ME) applications. They also provide (for free) tons of BlackBerry smartphone emulators that you can run your code againist (if you don't actually own a BlackBerry).
You can freely download the BlackBerry JDE, which includes a very nice IDE for developing applications for BlackBerry, and other J2ME capable mobile devices, as well as several BlackBerry simulators, to see how your code will perform on a BlackBerry; if you don't own a BlackBerry to test your code on.
Apparently RIM is attempting to compete with the iPhone, and in my oppinion, they are off to a good start, if you can deal with the limitations of the J2ME environment.

Apparently BlackBerries are not as cool as iPhones because none of the Java developers have picked up on this thread.

I would love to see a Java Perl port. There has been a lot of talk about porting or somehow getting Perl to work on J2ME, adn Blackberry in general, but it doesn't look very promising...
