Anvil: The Story of Anvil

Inspiring, makes me want to go on a world tour, again.

The Hangover - I liked the premise as the story unraveled. Not as funny as I expected it to be. Didn't live up to the hype for me. More subtle dialogue humor and sight gags. Don't get me wrong, it's still pretty funny, just not as funny as I thought it would be. I still prefer Bachelor Party and Very Bad Things over this one.

Underworld - Rise of the Lycans - I knew this was going to be good, but was still surprised at how much I liked it. If the second one hadn't been so scattered, this would be one heck of a trilogy. The Lycan beasts in this one were pretty awesome and there were tons of them. The shots of the lycan beasts leaping from tree to tree as they hunted down their victims was great. Returning characters were a treat to see. It did a great job of adding to the development of characters that you seen in the first movie. This one really tied things together and explained nearly the entire backstory. I am a bit of a fan of the series as the first movie's poster is my gameroom. Still can't pass it on TV without stopping to watch it. A+
I got a message for all of 'em. Shake... and bake.

Very cool, I still need to watch Rise of the Lycans. I've been trying to make time to re-watch the first 2, before giving this one a spin.

Definitely worth the time to watch. That dude that plays Victor is one of the best vampires I have seen. He just looks so evil and death-like.

Watched 'Haunting in Connecticut' and 'The Unborn' this weekend and both were OK scary flicks, nothing special.

The best thing I caught finally was 'Generation Kill' the HBO series from a couple of years ago. I got so hooked, I watched all seven eps back to back (small break to sleep). It's On-Demand and I highly recommend.
Trying to find sci-fi on TV is like trying to find a cop at a crime scene.

Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen

I wasn't too thrilled with the plot. I could accept it better if it was a little shorter. There were definitely several parts that could have been cropped, even some of the action.

Overall, I really enjoyed it. The special effects were incredible, as expected. The addition of the new transformers were not as annoying as I had previously read. The introduction of Soundwave and Rampage was awesome and I actually liked how they were used in the film.

Very far fetched good Summer blockbuster fun. Something to guage this movie on, it was much better than Spider-Man 3, even with the subtle annoyances it possesses. Transformer fans will not be disappointed.

I read where they decided against the Dinobots because they didn't have the technology to make it look right. Hopefully they get whatever it takes to make it happen in the next one. That should be the third and final film with the Dinobots in it.

I was never a big Dinobot fan. They were to "The Transformers" much like Oliver was to "The Brady Bunch".

The Killing Room - Starts very slow but develops into a pretty interesting little movie.

Echelon Conspiracy - OK, this movie starts badly and stays that way. Unless you feel the need to punish yourself, stay away.

Caught "I Love You, Man" over the weekend. It was pretty good and had me laughing out loud in a few places. Now I need to catch "Role Models" sometime to compare. Probably totally different comedies, but those are the only two I had any desire to watch as of late.

Both of those were pretty great... I never really get tired of Paul Rudd.

Last House On The Left (2009) - Good remake of a very influential film. The suspense was very good and kept me interested throughout. Very violent, but still not as disturbing as the original.

It's been quite awhile since I posted, so if I already commented on any of these movies, I apologize now. I'm just trying to think of all the ones I've seen somewhat recently…

Twilight – I actually liked this a lot more than I thought I would. I'm naturally kind of skeptical about anything that gets as my hype as this series has had. Plus, I generally just think the idea of vampires is dumb, but I decided to watch it anyways out of curiosity, and it wasn't too bad. I enjoyed watching the relationship between the two main characters. My dad had a serious problem with the fact that they didn't follow any of the stereotypical vampire rules (garlic, crosses, sunlight, etc.) So it was a little annoying to repeat every fifteen minutes, "They're not that kind of vampire, Dad" but I guess that's more of a comment on who you watch the movie with rather than how the movie itself was. Overall the story was entertaining and I wouldn't turn down watching the second one. I'm not however planning to go buy all the books or photoshop a picture of myself so that I look like one of the Cullens

Revolutionary Road – this was seriously horrible. It was long and pointless. And weird, don't forget incredibly weird.

I love you man – this was decent. It had some funny moments. Overall I didn't regret watching it.

Push – I actually kind of liked this. I liked it a lot more than the other people with me who watched it. They all thought it was dumb, but for some reason I didn't. My biggest complaint was that it seemed liked they made up some of the rules and superpowers as they went. Like instead of laying everything out to begin with at some point if they needed the plot to go a certain direction, they just threw in, "oh, yeah and her super powers don't work like this…"

Fast and Furious. First of all, I have to say I find the fact that they removed the "the's" from the title and think that it counts as a different title is ridiculous. Everyone knows that it is a sequel, so you might as well have a title that indicates so. Overall the movie wasn't bad. Not as good as the first one, but I liked it.

Bride Wars – I liked this movie. I'm a fan of both of the female stars. There were a few parts that I found kind of far-fetched, but I'm a girl and I thought the movie was funny anyways.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall - Pretty much what I expected. Very entertaining and funny. My favorite Kristen Bell movie so far.

Pineapple Express - Even better, very very funny. Totally not what I expected, a chase film that's hilarious. Great interaction between characters and you can tell much of it wasn't scripted, which makes me appreciate it more.

Step Brothers - Yes, I was on a dumb comedy trip this weekend. Just needed to watch something I could pay half attention to. This one had some good laughs. Pretty silly, which is right up my alley. Got a little slower toward the end, but many quality laughs in this one.

I think I'm boycotting Twilight, just because. Since Wolfman is coming out next year, I'm just crossing my fingers for a Frankenstein vs. Wolfman remake.

Respect the dead, BR. No mention of Mr. Siskel immediately following a post about and/or referencing any Transformer movie(s), be it those currently wasting precious celluloid or meaning to in the future.

We'll let this one slide but additional violations of this protocol will be met with great vengeance and furious anger, consisting of no less than 100 lashings, in public, by means of whip; the grip, forged in the fires of Mount Doom, and the whip itself, constructed from tiny hairs, gathered up by Michael Bay's assistant, out of Mr. Bay's own shower and on/around his favorite toilet.

Michael Bay can't watch though, or he has to pay $1,000 dollars.

I have watched Iron Man probably 10 times this week. I am still amazed at how awesome that movie was. This is by far the new standard for comic book adaptions. No doubt about it. They packed so much into that movie and it still flowed well. Robert Downey is the man! And I loved him in Tropic Thunder.
